DPS organizes mountain run



Srinagar, May 23: The Delhi Public School, Athwajan, Saturday organized mountain running for its students from Botanical Garden to Pari Mahal here. 1300 students from class 3rd to 9th in both boys and girls’ categories participated in the run. The participants were first instructed to climb uphill upto Pari Mahal entrance and then return back downhill to Botanical Garden entrance where from the run started. Each age group was flagged off separately in order to minimize the chance of injuries that happen in the mass start events due to rush of participants. The terrain was so tough that most of the participants gave up only after having run couple of hundred meters. Instead of running, they walked. In class 9th boy’s category, Shaharyar of 9E finished first while Mamoon of 9B and Suhaib Bashir of 9D finished second and third respectively. In class 9th girl’s category, Sahar Banu of 9B finished while Mehak of 9B and Namis of 9D finished second and third respectively. In class 6th boy’s category, Umeeb of 6B and Naveed of 6C finished first and second respectively. Third place was shared by Tabish of 6C, Zaid of 6C and Jivjot of 6B. In class 7th category, Fatima of 7B, Wasiq of 7H and Aamir of 7F finished first, second and third respectively while Wasiq Ashraf of 8th C, Faizan of 8th B and Hazin of 8th D finished first, second and third respectively in class 8th category. In class 5th category, Mehak of 5A, Shafaq of 5F finished first and second respectively. Third place was shared by Dawar of 5H and Yawar of 5F respectively. In class 4th category there was no clear winner and the first place was shared between Uznaim of 4E and Saliq of 4H. Second place went to Khateeb of 4H while third place was shared between Saqib Mushtaq of 4G and Reyan of 4H. In class 3rd category, Muhammad Asif of 3A and Muqadus of 3G shared first place between them while second place was shared between Gibran of 3E and Shahzadi of 3E. Third place went to Asif of 3C. The run was flagged off by the principal, DPS, KK Sharma.
