Srinagar, May 18: In order to safeguard the interests of players, the valley footballers have decided to form an association which would also look into welfare of the players. This was disclosed to Greater Kashmir by soccer star and Indian football team member Meraj-ud-din Wadoo, who and other players had a meeting at Polo Ground and SP college grounds. The working of the association will be announced on May 23 at Polo Ground. It will be named JK Football Players Welfare Association. “We had a meeting with the soccer players of the Valley to form the association which will work for the welfare of the players,” said Wadoo. The body will be affiliated with Football Players Association of India. The captain of Indian football team, Baichung Bhutia, is president of Football Players Association of India while Wadoo is its general secretary. “All the footballers of the state irrespective of which team or club they are playing will be given representation. We are requesting all players to register themselves with us and be present at the Polo Ground during official announcement of the body,” he said.
