Emerging star of the event

Before this event Adil, 19, had not participated in any senior national event and had been performing in junior national events only. So no one expected him to bag three individual gold medals.
But the coach, Farooq Ahmad had always trust in his capabilities and gave him responsibility of representing team in C-1 event ahead of several senior players. Though at that time it did not go well within the team, but Adil with his performance on the opening day proved the decision of the coach right. He won gold in K-1, 1000 meter.
